Pharmaceutical Journal — improving health services through technology

According to Richard Wootton, editor of the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, telemedicine is an umbrella term for many separate applications of medical care, including diagnosis, clinical management, treatment and medical education, whenever they are carried out at a distance.2 Therefore we have the related terms telepathology, telenursing, teleradiology, telepharmacy and others. Telemedicine involves the exchange of information at a distance, and that information could be vocal, visual, elements of a medical record or commands to a surgical robot.1
